Minnesota Nice.

Inspired by a t-shirt ad for 'Minnesota Not-Nice' on Citypages, the Twin Cities alt-weekly. One of the things that drew me to Minneapolis was its reputation for nice people. I mean, seriously. How can you find fault with nice people? Granted, hypocritical and saccharine piss me off more than downright rude, but I'm going off the assumption that 'nice' is, well, 'nice.'

But ask anyone who's grown up here, and they'll bite your head off and say, "That's a bloody lie! Take it back! TAKE IT BACK!!!"

Or something to that effect.

Sure, I know my preconceived notions of Minnesota are akin to Europeans' presumptions of ...the rest of the world immediately after Marco Polo reported back. I'm like one of those naive missionary-types who thinks the heathen people of a foreign land will embrace me and my message and welcome me into their paradise of which I've heard so much about (mainly to sell books and kill off missionaries, it seems).

I'd hate people like me, too, I imagine. I lived in the San Fernando Valley for awhile, and I got sick of people in Santa Monica asking if I did porn, though I'm not sure they make t-shirts in the Valley that say, "The Cunnilingus Will Not Be Televised!" or something like that.

So, yeah, I get it, but still.... mean people still suck, don't they?

Thanks for the comment on my blog.

Yusuf was my favorite character on 24's second season. I still haven't gotten over his death. What a fine looking man.

Sorry, I go off on tangents sometimes. Dark and Moody, I feel that way sometimes.
