Shuffle.

I'm enamored of the idea that you can just let your ipod go on random, and it will pick a spookily accurate playlist to suit the mood you're in. Unfortunately, my ipod just reminds me that I'm a loser that once really enjoyed Amy Grant's Heart in Motion, and that Walk This Way just gets creepier and creepier every time I hear it.

Next? That damn seagull recording on PJ Harvey's last album. Great album, but what the fuck is up with that???

What mood of mine is that supposed to reflect? What exactly does "seagull noises" suggest about me?

Blind trust in the shuffle process is ill-advised.
